GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS!


GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS FOR B.Th

  1. To obtain a degree in Bachelor of Theology (B.Th), a student must complete a minimum of 120 credit hours including a minimum of 8 credits hours of electives and 6 units project of between 15,000 and 20,000 word. A score not below 45 percent must be attained in all completed courses.
  2. Attendance at lectures and other programmes of the institution is compulsory for every student. 75 percent attendance at least is required before a student is allowed to sit for exam in any course
  3. No student below “Third Class” grade shall be granted a degree. The student himself/herself is responsible for seeing that he/she meets all the requirements for graduation. To be eligible for graduation, student must have satisfactorily completed, with passing grades, all the academic requirements pertaining to his/her course of studies. The Academic Board reserve the right to waive certain courses or requirements for administrative reasons. 

  4. In addition, the student must have settled all his/her financial obligations with the Institute and must have received the recommendation of the Academic Board before he/she may be allowed to graduate. This recommendation is not automatic upon meeting his/her academic requirements and financial obligations. During the entire period of enrolment, the faculty shall observe and evaluate student’s practical competencies, spiritual directives, personal development and leadership potentials. Reports shall also be obtained from observers of student’s internship and vacation programme. Some of the observations will be shared with students from time to time and these shall be considered before a final recommendation for graduation is concluded.

NOTE: Any student whose grade point is below 2.0 at the end of first semester of 100 level will be given a note of warning and if at the end of the second semester it is not up to 2.0, the student will be advised to withdraw from the programme.


GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS FOR B. A (Theology)

 

Graduation Requirements 

A student shall qualify for the award of a degree in Theology when he/she has:

 

 

  1. completed and passed the prescribed number of courses including all compulsory courses.

  2. obtained a minimum CGPA specified by the University but not less than 1.00

  3. earned the minimum credit units of not less than 140 for UTME and 99 for DE students.

 

Attainment Levels

Continuous assessment (Tests, quizzes and attendance) would be a compulsory part of the final assessment of a course, making at least 30% of the final grade.

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR AWARD OF DEGREE

For a student to qualify for the award of the degree, he/she must have satisfactorily offered and passed the following categories of courses:

 

Compulsory Courses:

These are courses students must offer and pass before graduation.

 

Elective Courses:

These are Departmental- prescribed courses which are required to be registered and passed to meet the minimum requirements of the University before graduation.

 

Pre-Requisite Courses:

These are courses which must be offered and passed before a particular course could be offered.

 

Other Requirements are:

Candidates must register for the appropriate compulsory and elective courses as indicated in the programme.

Courses, which may be designed as prerequisites to some other courses must be taken and a score of at least 40% is required to be able to offer the subsequent courses.  Any student who withdraws without permission will be deemed to have failed the course. Any course examination sat for without registration will be cancelled.

 

CLASSIFICATION OF DEGREE

For the purpose of the computation of results for graduation, all Courses taken by a student shall count. Degree Classification shall be based on the cumulative grade point average (C.G.P.A) obtained by each student as follows:

The cumulative grade point average shall be obtained by:

A student required to withdraw shall seek and obtain admission into any College or Department within 4 weeks of the notice of withdrawal after which the withdrawal notice shall stand.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS FOR PGDM and MDiv

  1. Multiplying the grade point assigned to the letter grade obtained in each course by the number of units assigned to the course to get the weighted score of each course.

  2. Add together the weighted scores for all the courses taken up to that time.

  3. Divide the total weighted score by the total number of units.

  4. A student shall be deemed to be in good academic standing as long as his/her cumulative grade point average C.G.P.A.  is not below 1.0

  5. A student shall be given warning if his/her C.G.P.A. is below 1.0 for the first time. This shall be indicated by the marks “WN” against the name of such a student on the result sheet.

  6. A student shall be placed on first probation marked with “P1” if his C.G.P.A. is below 1.0 for the 2nd consecutive semester; if his C.G.P.A is below 1.0 for the 3rd consecutive semester, he shall be placed on 2nd probation marked with “P2”.

  7. A student with C.G.P.A of less than 1.0 in his/her 4th consecutive semester shall be required to withdraw. However, such a student may be allowed to seek admission into a level not higher than 200 in any other Department/College in the University.

  8. To obtain a P.GDM programme, student must complete a maximum of 75 credit units including project of 6 units of between 10,000 and 15,000 words.

 

Master of Divinity Degree, a student must complete a minimum of 104 credit hours including project of 6 units of between 20,000 and 25,000 words. A minimum of 6 credits hours of electives is required in addition to the Core and Required Courses.

POSTGRADUATE GRADING SYSTEM

For postgraduate students, 50% is the minimum pass mark. The following system of grading is used for postgraduate students:
